Lent 2a

Christ the Foundation Places Our Focus on Him, John 3:1-16

Nicodemus went to speak with Jesus and got more than he was expecting. Jesus points Nicodemus to the reality that it is the Holy Spirit that causes faith that will be founded upon the one lifted up that our eyes might gaze upon him alone for salvation. This remains true to this day. Christ as our foundation means that we can look upon him alone for our salvation.

Light, Darkness, Jesus, and Nicodemus, John 3:1-16

When Nicodemus visits Jesus at night, there is more to their talk than meets the eye. How does Jesus being the light go with Nicodemus visiting him at night? How does someone hearing the wind go with hearing Scripture? Father Jeremiah speaks on these questions in this sermon.

One True Foundation, John 3.1-16

Nicodemus came to Jesus at night. What must have been going through his mind when he saw him and heard. It all connects to Genesis 12 and Romans 4. Promise, faith, sacraments all swirl together to reveal God’s kindness and steadfast love, in short, his grace to sinners like us so that we might know him.
